-

PRAYAGRAJ : A team of RPF crime branch is now probing the damage done to the tracks by unidentified miscreants on Prayagraj-Lucknow rail route in the night on March 4 near Manikpur railway station of Pratapgarh. The miscreants had tried to cut the tracks at four places near Bahiramau village.

However, any serious incident was averted after a railway keyman, who was inspecting the tracks, spotted the damage and immediately alerted railway officials. On the complaint of PWI Unchahar, an FIR was lodged against unidentified miscreants under railway act and other relevant sections of IPC at Kunda police station. The investigations were being carried out by civil police but it failed to get any clues and now a crime branch team of RPF from Lucknow is spearheading the probe.

The RPF team visited the villages close to the site where the tracks were found damaged and is also preparing a list of suspects. They are also keeping eye on tracks even during night in a bid to catch miscreants. Although team was still to identify the culprits they have received some clues in this connection. Some mobile numbers have also been put on surveillance. Team in-charge inspector Yashwant Singh said “Help of civil police was being taken in identification of culprits. Eye was being kept on suspected persons of nearby villages and efforts were being made to identify and arrest the culprits as soon as possible.”

To note, unidentified miscreants had damaged PrayagrajLucknow rail route by trying to cut the tracks at four places between Kunda and Manikpur railway stations.

Luckily, keyman Vishwa Vyapak Singh spotted the damage near kilometer number 48 at Bahramai between Kunda and Manikpur railway stations. The miscreants had tried to cut the tracks at four places and had even succeeded in cutting 4 millimeter deep at one place. The marks indicated that the culprits used sharp saw blade for the attempt.

The trains which were to pass from the route were halted at different stations.
