-

LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said promoting students without exam was the route of escapism.

Instead of promoting students of the basic shiksha parishad schools to the next level without examination, there should be an effort to prepare them for tough competition, he emphasized. He said this while distributing appointment letters to 271 block education officers in the basic education department.

For the last couple of months, there was speculation that the basic education department will promote 1.8 crore (18 million) students of class 1 to 8 without exams. Now, it seems teachers will strengthen the foundation level learning of students after which their learning outcome will be assessed.

“Heard that the basic education department plans to promote all its students for the second consecutive year without exams, as students only attended online classes due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I feel we must prepare students for competition. Promoting students without exam is the route of escapism,” he said.
