“There will be live telecast of the CM’s press conference in the entire state,” he added.

Similar functions will be held at the district headquarters immediately after the state-level programme the same day. “Certificates, golden cards, tri-cycles etc will be distributed to some beneficiaries under various welfare schemes,” the chief secretary said.

“There will be public rallies in all assembly constituencies on March 20 and complete projects will be inaugurated and foundation stone for new works will be laid, besides launching assembly-level booklet on development,” Tiwari said.

Various functions will be held at the block headquarters to enhance the income of farmers and similar programme will be organised in the urban areas for the beneficiaries of different schemes on March 21.

The Chief secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari said that all district magistrates had been asked to name one nodal officer (chief development officer, additional district magistrate, sub-divisional magistrate) for the functions to be held in the assembly segments and the districts.

LUCKNOW: Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi on Wednesday said that the Yogi Adityanath government purchased 161 lakh and 71 thousand MT of paddy and wheat worth Rs 66,557 crore at the minimum support price (MSP) from 70 lakh farmers during the last four years. This achievement, he said, was a record for the last 70 years.

He was enumerating his department’s achievements under the Yogi Adityanath government that will complete four years in office on March 19. The government, he claimed, was dedicated to the farmers and had been working for their welfare in the mission mode since the day one.

The first Cabinet meeting wrote off farm loan of around Rs 36,000 crore benefitting 45 lakh small and marginal farmers, he added.

Shahi said that till now an amount of Rs 27,332 crore had been sent to the farmers’ account under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi that, he said was already benefitting 2.42 crore farmers, getting the national-level award for the state recently for best implementation of the scheme in the country.

He said UP ranked first in wheat production and second in paddy cultivation. The production of potato, sugarcane and milk has also gone up. He said the government ensured adequate availability of fertilisers and seeds, electricity and water for farmers, helping them break all previous records of food production.

Taking a dig at the previous (Samajwadi Party) government, he said it had imposed a 5% tax on urea. “Our government removed this tax that significantly lowered urea prices,” he said.

Giving comparative, figures he said MSP purchase during the previous government was quite low.

The minister said that the Yogi government was the first to start buying pulses and oilseeds from farmers at the MSP, following which the production had increased significantly. He said the government took a number of steps in the interest of cane farmers, including paying arrears to them which, he pointed out, resulted in increased production as well as productivity of cane in the state.
