Alwar policeman arrested on charges of sexual exploitation
JAIPUR: A 25-year-old constable from Alwar district was arrested on charges of sexually exploiting a woman on the pretext of marriage, officials said.
“The accused constable was arrested under section 493 (cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage and having sexual intercourse with him in that belief) of Indian Penal Code. Investigation is being done on the charges of rape. The statements of the victim have been registered,” said Tejaswani Gautam, Alwar superintendent of police (SP).
The victim who is also in twenties had lodged a complaint in January, but the police continued to cover the case for two months. The victim later went to meet the superintendent of police, Alwar. On Thursday night, the accused constable was arrested.
This is the third incident of rape involving police personnel in Alwar district in a month.
In the complaint given to the SP, the victim said that she was preparing for recruitment in police force in a coaching in Alwar a few months ago. The accused constable came in contact with her through people known to both.
“The accused policeman was stationed at the Barodamev police station started talking to me on the mobile, offered me help and then made a physical relationship with me on the pretext of marriage. Later, he refused to marry,” said the victim in her complaint.
The victim further lodged a case against accused constable on January 21, 2021 at the Baroda Mev police station for sexually exploiting her, but the police station continued to protect the accused.
The SP said a counter case of extortion has been registered by the police constable too.
In first week of March, a subinspector (SI) of Kherli police station in Alwar, was arrested for allegedly raping a woman, and the station house officer (SHO) were suspended.
An ASI posted at Aravali Vijar police station was also suspended on complaint of sexual abuse. He is absconding.
Bail application of suspended ACP rejected Meanwhile, bail application of DSP Kailash Bohra, who allegedly demanded sexual favour from a rape survivor for taking action in cases lodged by her was rejected on Friday.
Bohra is 1996 batch sub-inspector was promoted to the post of deputy superintendent of police two years ago.
