CM also unveils statue of Maharana Pratap
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation of several development projects worth about Rs 613 crore in Bahraich and Maharajganj.
While the projects for Bahraich are worth Rs 333.83 crore, those for Maharajganj are worth Rs 279.30 crore. He also unveiled the statue of Maharana Pratap in Bahraich on the occasion, said a government statement.
The chief minister said the schemes related to flood control, pure water, irrigation and other basic amenities would give relief to the people of Bahraich.
Speaking about a new medical college in Bahraich, the CM said he was happy to be in the land of King Suheldev, who had given a brave reply to foreign invaders.
A magnificent memorial to Maharaja Suheldev and the medical college named after him in Bahraich had been almost completed, he said. “The medical college in Bahraich will provide better treatment to the people of not only Bahraich, but also those living in the surrounding districts,” he said. “Three out of four districts in Devipatan division have medical colleges,” he added.
He said the state government had spent Rs 900 crore on the treatment of the poor under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The chief minister said a lot of development work had been done in Bahraich in collaboration with the Centre. “Development works in the fields of health, education and drinking water in the last four years have shown positive results,” he said.
Bahraich was part of the Terai region and prone to communicable diseases, especially meningitis, he noted. He said the government had identified impure water as the main reason for communicable diseases and a scheme to provide piped water under the Jal Jeevan Mission had already been launched.
In Maharajganj, he reiterated his government’s commitment to doubling the income of farmers. Attacking the previous governments, CM said that they only worked to divide the people in the name of caste and religion.
