DM asks CMO to activate monitoring panels to check spread of corona

VARANASI : Corona cases have started to rise once again in Varanasi with 32 fresh cases being reported in the city in the last 24 hours prompting the administration to take precautionary measures.
According to chief medical officer Dr VB Singh, from March 2020 till date, 22,400 people have tested Covid positive in Varanasi of which 21,716 have been cured, 377 died and 307 were active cases.
According to health department officials, maximum number of these cases were from old city areas.
Amid rise in number of Covid cases, district magistrate Kaushalraj Sharma held a meeting with health department officials on Friday and instructed the CMO for activating the monitoring committees to check the spread.
Each committee comprising social workers and local representatives, including village head health in rural pocket and corporator in Nagar Nigam area, inform health department about the people arriving from other states as well as anybody suffering from covid symptoms. Thereafter, health department teams reaches the spot and takes the required steps.
Sharma instructed the health officials to submit contact tracing details and reports of migrants daily. He said two teams should be deployed at the Cantt station for the testing of passengers.
He also asked the CMO to furnish details of the capacity of all corona testing (RTPCR) labs of the district.
He said home isolation leaflets should be printed and containment zones should be made in the areas where Covid 19 cases have been found and proper sanitization should be done there.
Sharma also instructed the CMO to provide ivermectin tablets to all medical staff and panchayat election workers.
