Sangam city to get smart water distribution mgmt system soon
SENSORS ALLOWING CENTRAL CONTROL OF ALL TUBE WELLS, MINI TUBE WELLS AND OVERHEAD TANKS IS ALSO PLANNED
PRAYAGRAJ: As part of the ongoing mission to transform Prayagraj into a smart city, the entire water supply and distribution system of this ancient city would soon be upgraded with implementation of the Intelligent Water Distribution Management System (IWDMS), said officials.
Under the project, the entire new system would be controlled using smart and advanced technologies from the existing Prayagraj Smart City’s Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC), said officials.
As part of this ambitious exercise, sensors allowing central control and monitoring of all tube wells, mini tube wells and overhead tanks across the city limits is also planned, they added.
Prayagraj Smart City Limited has already floated a request for proposal (RFP) in this regard and the plan is to get the work started by May 2021 so that it gets completed by the end of 2021, said Vipin Singh, assistant mission manager of Prayagraj Smart City Limited.
He said that the project would ultimately make the complete water storage and supply system more efficient by cutting down water wastage, ensuring better planning for the peak times of summer and efficient handling of available stocks of water.
Officials said that this smart system would provide information about flow, pressure and water quality conditions in the water distribution network for all the nodes and customers, including those were not measured by field sensors/devices on real time basis.
In order to share relevant data with other stakeholders within the administration, the system will also include a web-based Human-Machine Interface (HMI) where input data and simulation results for the entire network can be visualized, in the form of thematic maps, time series graphs, tables and longitudinal profiles, they said.
