Covid-19: Active cases now over 451 in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ: The count of active Coronavirus cases in Prayagraj district reached 451 on Tuesday as the district witnessed a surge in Covid-19 cases. In the last 10 days, the district has recorded 439 fresh cases including two deaths, district medical and health officials said.
With the fresh cases and deaths, the total Covid-19 cases registered in the district till date has breached the 29,894-mark and the count of people losing their lives to the virus in the district, as of Tuesday, stands at 393 with one death each registered on March 27 and March 30, they added In response, officials have also geared up to deal with this spike in earnest.
Prabhakar Rai, chief medical officer, Prayagraj, said, “We have intensified awareness campaigns to educate people about the importance of social distancing, wearing face masks and using sanitisers on one hand, while on the other hand, health teams have once again begun focusing on maximum sample collection and contact tracing of people testing positive.”
He said that the common man also needs to join hands with the health department to check the
spread of the Coronavirus infection. “We are further planning to increase number of beds in different hospitals due to the surge
in cases. We are also urging people above 45 years to start visiting their nearest vaccination centres from April 1 and get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19,” he added. Officials said that currently, Sangam city has 181 containment zones. In the past nine days – between March 22 and March 30 – the
district has recorded 439 fresh cases of Coronavirus including 60 on March 30, 33 on March 29 (Holi day), 69 on March 28, 80 on March 27, 45 on March 24, 43 on March 25, 45 on March 26, 43 on March 25 and 45 on March 24. On March 23 and March 22, the district recorded 30 and 34 fresh cases, respectively.
