3 dead after consumptio­n of spurious liquor in Pratapgarh

PRAYAGRAJ: Three persons, including two brothers, died allegedly after consuming spurious liquor in two separate villages under Udaipur police station of Pratapgarh district late Tuesday night.

According to reports, condition of brothers Dilip Kori, 50, and Pradeep Kori, 35, of Kataria village deteriorat­ed late Tuesday night. Their kin rushed them to nearby CHC.

Pradeep Kori died while undergoing treatment at CHC while Dilip Kori was taken to Rae Bareli for treatment where he also died later.

Their uncle Siddhnath was found dead outside a sweet shop at Atheha Chauraha in Raaki village. Locals informed that Siddhnath was loitering in an inebriated state on Tuesday night. It is alleged that all of them have consumed liquor following which they fell ill and died.

Meanwhile, two other persons of Kataria village identified as Rampal, 50, and Rajkumar of Ahar village also fell ill. Rampal died at Sangipur CHC while Rajkumar died at Amethi district hospital on Wednesday. Another person Kishan Pasi, 55, of Ahar village was also reported dead on Tuesday. However, kin of Rajkumar and Kishan claimed they died of illness. Two other villagers Dharmendra Singh and Omprakash Saroj also fell ill and were admitted to hospital.

ADG zone Prem Prakash said three persons have died after they fell ill following consumptio­n of liquor.

Bodies have been sent for autopsy and further investigat­ions were underway in connection with the deaths in of two other dead persons have informed that they died due to illness, ADG added.

Barely a few weeks back, illicit liquor had claimed four lives in Pratapgarh district.
