Vaccination picks up pace in Prayagraj
Total 6254 people got vaccinated, including 2291 of those 45 years and above at 97 govtrun hospitals, CHCs & PHCs on Thursday
PRAYAGRAJ: Vaccination of people of 45 years and above started at 97 government-run hospitals, community health centres (CHCs) and primary health centres (PHCs) with 2291 people across Prayagraj district getting vaccinated on day one.
However, a total of 6254 individuals got vaccinated . A total of 124 vaccination sessions took place at 84 vaccination centres located in rural areas while 33 vaccination sessions took place at 11 centres in city area on Thursday, said CMO-Prayagraj Dr Prabhakar Rai.
He said that the day also witnessed 222 fresh Covid-19 cases in the district. A total of 6583 samples were collected by the district medical and health department as part of efforts to detect and contain the spread of the virus, he added.
The vaccination henceforth will take place between 9 am to 5pm at 97 centres on every Monday, Thursday and Friday. However, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, it will take place only at 33 of these centres with the 64 PHCs not offering the facility on these three days, informed Dr RS Thakur, Covid-19 vaccination district nodal officer.
He said that as per the state government decision, both Covishield and Covaxin doses would be administered by the centres with Covishield accounting for 70 per cent of the total vaccinations and Covaxin for the remaining 30 per cent.
The centres where the free vaccination has been made available includes SRN Hospital, MLN Medical College, Motilal Nehru (Colvin) Divisional Hospital, Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) Hospital, MD Eye Hospital, TB Hospital, ESI Hospital-Naini, Homeopathic Medical College, Dufferin Hospital etc. besides 20 CHCs and 64 PHCs in rural areas of the district.
The district administration has now started preparations in view of increasing cases of Covid-19 surfacing in Prayagraj. District magistrate Bhanu Chandra Goswami has directed the district health department officials to prepare Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) Hospital and the Hospital of Bani Kotwa once again for corona patients. Patients will be admitted in these hospitals as and when needed on short notice, said the DM.
The DM said that just like last year when these two hospitals functioned as L-1 and L-2 category facilities for Covid-19 patients, they are being readied once again.
Meanwhile, the district police on Thursday also undertook a special vehicle checking drive in light of the fast spreading Covid-19 infection. A total of 4837 vehicles were checked and 411 were issued challans for various violations.
A total of 1693 individuals were also issued challans and fines worth Rs 1,69,300 realised for failing to wear facemasks at public places, police informed in a communiqué issued on Thursday.
AS PER THE STATE GOVERNMENT DECISION, BOTH COVISHIELD AND COVAXIN DOSES WILL BE GIVEN BY THE CENTRES
