FIR against 13, Kunda SHO among 3 cops suspended

PRAYAGRAJ : In the crackdown against the illicit liquor racket in Pratapgarh, the police have lodged an FIR against 13 people at the Kunda police station, on Monday. The case has been registered in the Babuganj area on Saturday night. The police have seized 1240 cartons of illicit liquor from a market on Lucknow-Prayagraj highway.

The case has been registered against Sanjay Singh aka Guddu Singh, the husband of Mohiuddinp­ur village head Puja Singh along with liquor trader Sudhakar Singh, Dhirendra Pratap Singh aka Bangali, Navrang Singh, Pradeep Singh, Dheeraj Singh, Nawal Singh, Neta, Samar Singh, Ashish Pratap Singh, Rohit Singh, Pawan Singh and Rajendra Singh. Earlier, the police have booked 19 persons on Friday in Balipur village. Meanwhile, SP Pratapgarh Akash Tomar suspended the SHO of Kunda Devendra Pratap Singh and sub-inspector Abhay Singh along with S-I Hansraj Dubey at Hathigawa police station. It is reported that an enquiry is also being carried out against some senior officials for having relations with liquor mafias. SP Pratapgarh Akash Tomar also forwarded a letter for enquiry against former Kunda SHO Uday Tripathi by the anti-corruption team. Tripathi was transferre­d to STF sometime back.

Meanwhile, in late night developmen­t state Home department suspended ASP Pratapgarh Dinesh Dwivedi and Deputy SP Kunda Jitendra Singh Parihar, confirmed home department officials. It is reported that the action has been taken for their alleged connection with liquor mafias. Large quantities of illicit liquor and hooch had been recovered in different raids during last two days in Kunda area.
