BJP MLA alleges misbehaviour by SP, video goes viral
PRAYAGRAJ: Abhay Kumar aka Dheeraj Ojha, BJP MLA from Raniganj constituency of Pratapgarh, on Wednesday alleged that he was manhandled by superintendent of police (SP) Akash Tomar while he was staging protest at district magistrate’s camp office against anomalies in voter list.
In a video, which went viral on social media, the MLA could be seen shouting and alleging that SP Pratapgarh assaulted him.
“SP Pratapgarh has assaulted me without any reason. He is a dangerous person and will kill me,” the MLA was seen shouting as he lay down on the ground in his vest. It is reported that the MLA and his supporters were staging protest against anomalies in voter list.
In the afternoon, DM Nitin Bansal and SP Tomar approached the MLA and tried to pacify him. \
The MLA alleged that no action was taken by the police against his opponents who carry firearms and were involved in illegal land grabbing. The MLA was listing the cases registered against his opponents when he has an argument with the SP.
After a heated exchange of words, the MLA and his supporters came out of the DM office. With his torn ‘kurta’ the MLA lay on the road and claimed that he was manhandled by the SP for no fault of his.
The SP left the spot after the incident ignoring the remarks made by the MLA’s supporters.
“The MLA was staging protest against anomalies in voter list. I objected when he started making false allegations and misbehaved. Police is not involved in the entire issue,” said the SP.
