MP police to help Prayagraj cops ensure peaceful rural polls
PRAYAGRAJ POLICE OFFICIALS HAVE NOW TAKEN THE INITIATIVE TO WORK IN COORDINATION WITH THE POLICE IN MADHYA PRADESH.
PRAYAGRAJ : In a bid to ensure free and fair panchayat polls in the district, Prayagraj police is taking the help of cops from Madhya Pradesh. Prayagraj borders the Rewa district of MP and is connected not only by the highway but also through routes in the rocky terrain and forest areas.
The miscreants and illicit liquor suppliers often use bordering villages for their illegal activities and take shelter in those areas, after committing crimes in the neighbouring states.
As cops in both states often lack coordination, criminals take advantage and carry out their illegal activities.
With the panchayat elections round the corner, Prayagraj police officials have now taken the initiative to work in coordination with the police in Madhya Pradesh.
The police officials are focussing not only on the identification of wanted criminals but also to stop the smuggling of illicit liquor, marijuana and sedative syrups.
As illegal liquor is often used during elections to woo voters, cops of both states will increase efforts to identify and arrest the liquor suppliers active on the bordering villages.
To build up communication and coordination between cops of both states, a meeting of senior officials of both Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh was held on Tuesday in which a strategy was chalked out to mount pressure on cross-border crimes and criminals for conducting peaceful panchayat polls.
ADG Zone Prem Prakash said an inter-state meeting was held with senior police officials of Prayagraj and Rewa district with an aim for better cooperation and coordination.
The criminals wanted in both states will be identified and joint efforts will be made to arrest them.
Besides, a list of persons who may create trouble during the panchayat polls is also being made and action will be ensured against such miscreants.
