‘Keep a check on availability of meds used in treatment’
LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday asked officials to keep a check on the availability of medicines used in the treatment of Covid.
“The state government is committed to ensure that there is no shortage of resources to deal with the virus in the most populous state. The state government is all geared up so that people do not face any kind of hardship in the fight against Covid-19,” said an official spokesman.
According to drug controller AK Jain, “Medicines and related products like sanitizers, PPE kits, Ivermectin and azithromycin are available in sufficient quantities in the state.” He said the state government also increased the resources of testing, beds and ventilators in hospitals.
“As of February 2020, there were only 86 units for making hand sanitizers in the state, which have now increased to 151. Since February, 65 new sanitizer units have been established,” said Jain.

The Food and Drug Administration Department lodged nine cases for ‘arbitrariness in sale of drugs’ under the Drugs Act.
About 23 people were arrested and material worth Rs 85,18,855 was seized so far. Under the Essential Commodities Act, 15 cases had been registered regarding illegal business related to masks, hand sanitizers and oxygen.
“To tackle the Covid-19 situation in the state, the government is ensuring that everything is made available for people. Due to the start of production units, there will be no shortage of resources in the state,” said AK Jain, drug controller.
