PRAYAGRAJ: The North Central Railways (NCR) has decided to suspend sale of platform tickets at all railway stations of cities coming under Prayagraj division.

The decision was taken in view of the increasing number of Covid-positive cases in these cities.

Only passengers are permitted to enter the station premises, officials said.

“Be it smaller stations like Subedarganj or Cheoki of Prayagraj district or the major stations like Prayagraj Junction, Kanpur Central etc, sale of platform tickets have been suspended till further orders,” said Amit Singh, public relations officer, Prayagraj division.

He also added that all norms laid under Covid-19 protocol are strictly being adhered to at every station under the division including not allowing anyone to enter the railway station premises without facemask, separate entry and exits, etc.

Likewise, the district administration has made elaborate arrangements to keep a vigil on passengers coming from other cities to Prayagraj.

“Random sampling, taking details of every passenger, following the norm of social distancing are all being followed at the railway stations,” said Singh.

Meanwhile, in view of the increasing passenger load from Maharashtra, the railway has decided to run several special trains to bring passengers back. Besides, it has also increased operation of many previously announced trains as well.

In this sequence, a train between Lokmanya Tilak Terminal (LTT) and Danapur superfast special has been introduced. This train will leave LTT on April 19, 23, 26 and 30. While returning, it will depart from Danapur at 8.30 am. Likewise, train number 05545 Raxaul-LTT will also run between these two stations and pass through Prayagraj.

Apart from this, a train has been introduced between Sholapur and Guwahati which will leave Sholapur on April 12, 19 and 26 at 5.30 pm.

The return train will depart from Guwahati on April 16, 23 and 30 at 5.30 am.
