All 36 East UP KVs closed till April 30

AROUND 50 CORONA POSITIVE CASES HAVE BEEN REPORTED FROM DIFFERENT KVS OF THE REGION INCLUDING NINE SCHOOLS OF PRAYAGRAJ DIST.

PRAYAGRAJ: The authoritie­s of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Varanasi region, which governs 36 KVs of Eastern UP, have ordered closure of all these schools till April 30, in view of the rising Covid-19 cases in the state.

Around 50 corona positive cases have been reported from different KVs of the region including nine schools of Prayagraj district. The infected include teachers, non-teaching staff and people outsourced by the KVs for various work, officials said.

In view of the increasing magnitude of the Covid-19 infection and the directives of the state government in view of the present crisis, D Manivannan, deputy commission­er, Varanasi region, issued orders to close all the KVs under his jurisdicti­on till April 30. The regional office has its base on the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus, Varanasi.

There are nine KVs in the Prayagraj district. The other cities which have KVs under Varanasi regional office include Mughalsara­i, Balia, Chitrakoot, Varanasi (4), Deoria, Azamgarh, Basti, Salempur, Chopan, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur (2), Mau, Rihand Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Sultanpur, Gonda, Mankapur, Kushinagar, Siddharth Nagar, Mirzapur,

Amethi, Bhadohi.

The deputy commission­er has taken cognizance of the letter of the principal secretary, UP government regarding guidelines issued for preventing the spread of Covid-19. He has said that the examinatio­n schedule announced earlier will be followed but while observing all Covid-19 protocols.

“Regarding functionin­g of classes, we have been directed by the deputy commission­er to hold classes in online mode till April 30 or until fresh order is issued by the state government or district administra­tion in this regard,” said Shalini Dikshit, principal, KV-Manauri.

Likewise, the Board practical examinatio­n, which has already been announced, would be conducted in adherence to the guidelines issued for prevention of Covid-19. Schools have been asked to organise sessions, may be daily, for those students who are in need of any guidance.
