Varanasi traders agree for weekend closure to break Covid chain

Commission­er of Police A Satish Ganesh spoke to presidents of different trader organisati­ons about keeping their shops closed during weekend

VARANASI: The traders in Varanasi have agreed to keep their shops closed on Saturday and Sunday and to support the complete lockdown from Friday 9pm to Monday 9am in the city to break the chain of spread of Corona here.

Commission­er of Police, Varanasi, A Satish Ganesh held a telephonic conversati­on with presidents of different trader organisati­ons about keeping their shops closed in the weekend and for breaking the chain of spread of Corona and also sought their suggestion­s in this regard.

Ganesh spoke to Akhil Bharatiya Vyapar Mandal president Rakesh Jain-1, Kashi Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal president Rakesh Jain II, Kashi Vyapar Mandal president Ajeet Bagga and Varanasi Sarafa Associatio­n president Rakesh Verma.

Mahanagar Udyog Vyapar Samiti president Prem Mishra said at the appeal of commission­er of police A Satish Ganesh and district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma we have decided to keep our shops closed on Saturday and Sunday in order to break the chain of corona spread in the city.

He said that the commission­er of police held a telephonic conversati­on with him and made the appeal.

Kashi Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal president Rakesh Jain said, “Weekend lockdown is need of the hour. To break the chain of Corona virus, lockdown should be implemente­d from Friday 9pm to Monday 9 am. This is the way out to save Banaras. We support it.”

Jain said that he also suggested that all the banquet halls and marriage halls should be converted into Covid hospitals.

He urged the commission­er of police to take steps for checking the black marketing of Remdisiver injection. Jain also suggested that administra­tion should take measures to maintain supply chains of oxygen cylinders so that there was no shortage of oxygen cylinders in the hospitals.

Commission­er of police, A Satish Ganesh, said, “I spoke to office bearers of various trader organisati­ons and appealed to them to think about keeping their shops closed for a day or two in order to break the chain of spread of corona.”

The office bearers of the traders’ organizati­ons welcomed the idea and gave some valuable suggestion­s, said the commission­er of police. Their suggestion­s will be implemente­d soon.

While in home isolation, wear a mask so that other members are not affected, and maintain distance with them. Do not go out of the house. Keep a pulse oximeter with you and keep measuring the pulse and oxygen level. If oxygen level falls below 95 or there are fluctuatio­ns or disturbanc­es in health, immediatel­y report it to toll free number 1077. These instructio­ns were given by Rahul Singh of the Nodal Rapid Response Team.

He asked patients to measure body temperatur­e with a thermomete­r.

Avoid cold things. During this time you have to keep in mind that you have to stay in home isolation for 17 days, you should stay in your room for 10 days. After 10 days, you may walk outside the room following the rules for 7 more days.
