Now sale of platform tickets stopped at all NCR, NER stations

-

PRAYAGRAJ: In view of increasing numbers of Covid-19 positive cases in the different cities coming under North Central Railways (NCR), the railway authorities have decided to suspend sale of platform tickets at all these railway stations with immediate effect. A similar order has been passed by the authorities of North Eastern Railways (NER).

Earlier, Prayagraj Division of NCR had passed such an order.

This has been done so that only passengers could enter the station premises and to prevent unnecessary crowding, officials said.

“We had empowered the divisions to take decisions on their own level and infact Prayagraj division has implemented this practice from April 13 itself and now all the three divisions of NCR, namely Prayagraj, Jhansi and Agra, has implemented the practice and stopped sale of platform tickets from stations under their jurisdiction”, said chief public relation officer (CPRO), NCR, Ajeet Kumar Singh.

He also added that Covid protocol is strictly being adhered to at every station under the division including not allowing anyone to enter the railway station premises without mask, separate entry and exit side etc.

On the same lines, sale of platform from over 500 railway stations under North Eastern Railways (NER) has also been suspended till further information. “The idea is to minimise the number of people on the platforms as although we are taking all precautions and things are under our control, but still we want that only passengers, who have to undertake the travel, should arrive at the platform and no one else”, said Pankaj Singh, CPRO, NER.
