PRAYAGRAJ: Outstandin­g courage shown by a woman police officer averted a major disturbanc­e at a polling booth during the panchayat poll in Pratapgarh on Monday. The video of the woman official identified as circle officer Sadar Tanu Upadhyay was tweeted by ADG Zone Prem Prakash which is being re-tweeted and liked by a large number of Twitter users.

Netizens are appreciati­ng the courage of the woman official while dealing with an enraged crowd of villagers.

According to reports, a crowd of villagers at Trilokpur polling booth in Pratapgarh created ruckus alleging that ballet papers had gone missing. SDM Satishchan­dra Tripathi reached the scene but the villagers argued with him and surrounded his vehicle. Circle officer Upadhyay who was at a nearby polling booth rushed to the spot but enraged villagers started raising slogans and tried to surround her as well. Observing the situation Tanu Upadhyay immediatel­y took the loud hailer and warned the miscreants. The woman official offered to talk to local elders but only on condition of maintainin­g peace. The miscreants fled the spot when the woman official warned of strict action and calling additional force to the village. She also threatened the miscreants of sending them to jail.
