57,753 PEOPLE FINED FOR NOT WEARING MASKS

LUCKNOW: In a drive to curb Covid-19 outbreak, the state police imposed fine of ₹ 1.19 core on 57753 people for not wearing masks at public places across the state in last 24 hours, said additional director general (ADG) of Uttar Pradesh police, Prashant Kumar here on Wednesday.

The state government has announced a fine of ₹1000 for people found without wearing a mask and ₹ 10,000 for repeated offenders.

A TOTAL OF 77,989 CONTAINMEN­T ZONES HAD BEEN FORMED ACROSS THE STATE

LUCKNOW: In a drive to curb Covid-19 outbreak, the state police imposed fine of ₹ 1.19 core on 57753 people for not wearing masks at public places across the state in last 24 hours, said additional director general (ADG) of Uttar Pradesh police, Prashant Kumar here on Wednesday.

The state government has announced a fine of ₹1000 for people found without wearing a mask and ₹ 10,000 for repeated offenders.

The ADG said a total of 77989 containmen­t zones have been formed across the state in areas where the number of Covid-19 positive patients were higher that comes under the jurisdicti­on areas of 1218 police stations.

He said the state police have deployed 25,776 police personnel at these containmen­t zones to ensure law and order and restrict movement of those tested Covid-19 positive.

The ADG said the state police were keeping a tab on black marketing of oxygen and lifesaving drugs and the UP police special task force (STF) was working in tandem with officials of the drugs department in the state to curb this practice completely. He said some people were arrested in Kanpur and Gautam Buddh Nagar in this connection in past one week.

He said the police officials concerned have been directed to impose Gangster Act and National Security Act (NSA) against those involved in black marketing of oxygen and lifesaving drugs.

He added that meanwhile 1276 police personnel were currently Covid-19 positive and undergoing treatment at different levels. He said a special cell of the police department was keeping a tab on their health conditions and even sensitisin­g them to keep themselves safe and protected from this infection.
