Pharmacists working in Covid wards demand accommodation facility
VARANASI: Diploma Pharmacists Association (DPA), Varanasi, has written to the chief medical officer (CMO), urging him to make an accommodation arrangement for the officers and employees of the pharmacy cadre working in Covid hospitals, so that they could stay in isolation and avoid contact with their near and dear ones.
DPA district president RK Singh said that officers and employees of the pharmacy cadre are serving the patients at Pt Deendayal Upadhyay District hospital, which is a level 2 Covid hospital.
After serving the patients, the pharmacists return their home which poses risk of spreading infection to their family members.
Singh said, “Though the pharmacists and employees follow all Covid protocol and use all protective gears like PPE kit while working in Covid ward. But, at present, there is always possibility of infection. When they go back home, they come in contact with their family members. Therefore, they are concerned about health and wellbeing of their near and dear ones.”
“During the first wave last year, administration had made an arrangement of accommodation for the health workers, employees and pharmacists for their isolation. The employees used to stay there after duty in Covid wards. Similar arrangements are required this year too in wake of rising Covid cases,” he added.
Singh said that the letter has also been sent to the district magistrate and divisional commissioner. He hoped that they would pay attention to their request.
