ALL BEDS TAKEN AT SRN HOSPITAL, OTHER PLACES
PRAYAGRAJ: Pathetic conditions prevail at SRN Hospital and at other medical institutions of the city, where a large number of patients and their attendants are waiting in lobbies, open places and even ambulances, to be admitted into ICUs.
Attendants can be seen pleading with doctors and hospital staff to admit their patients but they are being told to wait until a discharge or a death takes place.
On Thursday, dozens of ambulances with patients were parked on the SRN Hospital premises. Their attendants said that hospital authorities have expressed inability to admit patients as no beds were available. Even the isolation ward, where suspected Covid-19 patients are kept, was full of people, many of them in a serious condition.
Not only SRN Hospital but all hospitals admitting Covid-19 patients have the same situation. None of them have spare beds or ventilators. Doctors said that the Covid-19 infection is affecting the lungs of patients. People do not take fever and cold seriously and get themselves tested only when the situation turns critical. Covid-19 test should be carried out when the initial symptoms – sore throat, slight fever – show up, they added.
