Youth held for trying to sell O2 through social media post

VARANASI: A youth was arrested for allegedly trying to sell an oxygen cylinder for Rs 35,000 through a post on Facebook. The crime branch is interrogat­ing him. Commission­er of police A Satish Ganesh appealed to the people to beware of misleading posts on social media platforms.

Ganesh said that the crime branch team was keeping an eye on anti-social elements and strict action would be taken if anyone was found indulging in black marketing of life saving drugs and oxygen.

A Satish Ganesh on Saturday made additional DCP (Headquarte­r) Aditya Langey look into the complaints of black marketing of oxygen and life saving drugs. At his initiative, a Whatsapp helpline was also started for receiving informatio­n and complaints regarding black marketing of medicines and oxygen. The helpline number is 9454405426. The commission­er said that the helpline had started functionin­g with immediate effect. Ganesh has appealed to the people that if anyone wants to lodge a complaint or share informatio­n regarding black marketing of life saving drugs and oxygen cylinder, he should share it on Whatapp helpline number 9454405426. The name of the informer will be kept confidenti­al.He said police would immediatel­y ensure action against the blackmarke­teers.

Applicatio­n

The Varanasi police have appealed to the people to submit their applicatio­n for permission for matrimonia­l or other programmes on the prescribed format at the office of additional commission­er of police (law and order) at least one week in advance.
