Prayagraj gets 17 MT oxygen from Bokaro
PRAYAGRAJ: In a big relief to people facing shortage of oxygen here, 17 metric tonnes (MT) of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) reached Sangam city from Bokaro in Jharkhand on Monday. The district administration has arranged the LMO to meet out the shortage here.
ACMO Dr VK Mishra said efforts were also on to ensure that the city got more such supply in days to come. Besides, starting of production of oxygen at another private plant in the city from Tuesday will also bring more relief for the patients.
The medical oxygen, which arrived here on Tuesday, will be given to agencies from where the same would be dispersed among the needy patients, said officials.
The entire district is witnessing acute shortage of oxygen during this pandemic time. There is a shortage of oxygen in private hospitals too. If officials are to be believed, this is the main reason why some hospital administrations are reluctant to admit patients and are making an excuse of non-availability of vacant beds.In another noble gesture, Nandi Seva Sansthan, an NGO active in social work in Prayagraj, has written a letter to the district magistrate Prayagraj for the establishing a medical oxygen plant at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital (SRNH) on its own.
Spokesperson for the NGO Lallu Lal Gupta told media persons, “This proposed plant will be handed over to the medical college administration for the benefit of patients after 25 days of commencement of construction.” The letter to the DM also mentions talks with the competent officials of the company that would install the plant. The spokesman further said the NGO was only waiting for the permission from the district administration and the completion of necessary formalities .
