Infection rate falling, recovery rate rising: CM
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said there was a clear indication of a falling Covid-19 infection rate and rising recovery rate in the state. “In the last 24 hours, a total of 32,993 new Covid-19 positive cases surfaced while as many as 30,398 have recovered and were discharged from hospitals,” he said at the Covid-19 review meeting with top officials.
40 new RT-PCR machines The state government had placed an order for 40 new RT-PCR machines to intensify testing in the state, said a state government statement.
Observing that testing was very important in the war against Covid-19, he said UP topped the chart (for testing) and had done more than four crore tests so far. “Ask all labs to double the testing capacity and ensure quality,” he said.
Call to gear up for vaccination The chief minister asked the respective districts’ administration to be well prepared for the vaccination drive that opens for people above the age of 18 from May 1. “Ensure there is no wastage of vaccines,” he emphasised.
The chief minister noted that Covid-19 vaccination was going on at a fast pace in the state. UP was topmost among all states in the number of vaccinations and had administered a total of 1,19,45,728 doses, he added.
3.3 crore houses surveyed As many as 5.7 lakh Covid-19 surveillance teams surveyed 3,35,50,687 houses till Monday, according to a state government statement.
Private sector proposes 54 O2 plants
The chief minister also mentioned the private sector’s role in augmentation of oxygen supply. “The private sector has proposed 54 plants in UP. Examine all proposals, extend them all necessary support. For the larger public interest, offer of the private sector is welcome,” he added.
Central govt, Amazon give 2,000 concentrators The Central government had sent 1,500 oxygen concentrators and Amazon another 500, the state government said in the statement.
