Varanasi NGOs lend helping hand to admn

VARANASI : Various non-government organisati­ons (NGOs) in the city have extended a helping hand to the district administra­tion in the fight against Covid-19 by providing medicines, vaporizers and foodgrains.

In a press statement informatio­n department said, Rotary Club Varanasi Central has given 200 pieces of vaporizer, Varanasi Sarafa Associatio­n has provided 200 medicine kits containing doxycyclin­e, azithromyc­in, ivermectin, vitamin c, zinc and dolokind. In addition, a Maruti van has been provided by the Kashilal Educationa­l and Welfare Society to assist in carrying the medicine for Covid work.

NGO Vishal Bharat Sanshthan started a 24-hour war room at Subhash Bhavan in Lamahi to provide foodgrains, medicines and food to the needy. The war room was inaugurate­d online by senior RSS functionar­y Indresh Kumar.

Sansthan’s president Dr Rajiv Srivastava said he will personally monitor the war room where people can call on mobile number 8546065991 for any help.

Srivastava said he has informed the district administra­tion about this work. For delivery of Covid-19 medicines in Lalpur area and Jaitpura area, call can be made on mobile numbers 7068246896 and 7068246897 respective­ly.

Volunteers with Covid medicine kit will deliver it at the home of the needy after verifying their Aadhaar cards.

Srivastava said PPE Kits for the volunteers have been made available by industrial­ist Manoj Shah. He added that an Anaj Bank will continue to provide foodgrains to the needy in this tough time.
