-

PRAYAGRAJ : In the backdrop of the announcement made by government regarding vaccinating everyone above 18 from May 1 onwards, vicechancellor of Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University (PRSSU) has decided to initiate a massive drive to vaccinate students studying at the university’s main campus and those in the affiliated colleges of the university.

For this, the university is in contact with the district administration to make the Naini campus of the university as the vaccination centre. A similar exercise is to be taken by over 600 colleges affiliated to the university, say university officials.

Earlier, the Naini based main campus of the state university had served as vaccination centre from April 11 to 14 during the nationwide vaccination festival. All the eligible staff and their family members were vaccinated during the four-day festival.

According to the notification issued by the university administration, all the colleges have been directed that from May 1, those above 18 would be administered Covid vaccine.

As registration for this started from April 28, teachers and staff members at the university and their counterparts at the colleges have been instructed to see to it that maximum students of their colleges are registered and later get vaccinated.

“The college administration should encourage its students to get registered and vaccinated. At the same time, colleges have been asked to contact and coordinate with the local administration at their respective place so that corona vaccine centre can be set up at their college,” said VC prof Akhilesh Kumar Singh.

He also appealed to students to make their parents and the people above 18 aware of the need to get Covid vaccine.

There are 634 colleges affiliated to this state university in Prayagraj division, including Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Kaushambi. About 4.5 lakh students are registered in different courses in these colleges.
