LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the state government was committed to providing ration to all amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ration due for May and June to ration card holders, including Antodaya beneficiaries, would be given free of cost, he said. This will be over and above the free ration for May and June announced by the central government under the National Food Security Act, he said.“The department concerned should make a plan for the execution of the scheme,” he said at the Covid review meeting on Wednesday.

The chief minister mentioned the Ayush department and said its role was praiseworthy during the first wave and now again it should make Ayush Kadha (medicinal concoction) and other associated medicines for the people.

Teamwork was showing good results in Covid management, he said.“In the last one week, the Covid-19 recovery rate has improved in the state. In the last 24 hours, a total of 35,903 people have overcome the infection. All in the state must follow Covid appropriate behaviour. Must use masks, sanitisers and adhere to social distancing,” he said.

Both government and private labs should dedicate themselves towards doubling the testing capacity soon, he said.

“Dedicate two PHCs (primary health centres) each in all the districts for Covid patients. Health department hospitals have increased 200 beds districtwise, which enhanced the bed strength by 15,000 beds,” he said and added that the state had enough life-saving drugs. The government has given Remdesivir injections to district magistrates and chief medical officers in each district for the needy.

The central government has allocated 1.61 lakh vials of Remdesivir to the state till April 30 and the supply for May is likely to be doubled.

Be extra sensitive to patients’ kin

The administration needed to be extra sensitive towards patients’ kin, the chief minister said.

Even if a relative of a patient got angry, officials should still behave with compassion, he said. All officers must be accessible on phones. Ambulances and other such vehicles should be readily available and the ambulance’s response time should be reduced, he said.

He also asked for keeping tabs on patients in home isolation and providing them with medical kits as per the protocol.

He called for scaling up teleconsultation in the absence of OPDs in hospitals.

“Increase phone lines for telemedicine, especially in Kanpur Nagar, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Bareilly and Agra,” he said. Our villages are safe because of nigrani samitis: CM

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday gave credit to the nigrani samitis (Covid monitoring committees) for the safety of the villages.

“The nigrani samitis played a vital role in fighting Covid-19 in the first wave. During the second wave, which is 30 to 50 times more intense than the one gone by, the role of the samitis has become all the more important. They have kept our villages safe so far,” he said in a video conference with the nigrani samitis across the state.

He also said: “The role of the samitis was praiseworthy, be it the testing and tracking of 40 lakh migrants who had returned the last time, sending them to quarantine centres, distribution of food grains, ration kits and medical kits.” He asked the samitis to work even better now.

“Because the infection is far more intense this time, so the responsibility is now multifold for keeping villages and mohallas (localities) safe. Use the public address system to sensitise people, make them follow Covid protocols,” he said.
