Bank manager elected village head

MODEL TURNED ACTRESS DIKSHA SINGH LOST THE POLL FOR DISTRICT PANCHAYAT MEMBER FROM WARD NO 26 IN BUXA AREA OF JAUNPUR.

VARANASI: Ashish Kumar Mishra, 25, an ex-assistant manager at prominent bank, has been elected Pradhan of Dodihar village panchayat in Ghorawal area of Sonbhadra district.

Mishra, a postgradua­te in commerce and MBA, quit his bank job and contested the panchayat election.

“Time has come to focus on the developmen­t of villages. I want to do all round developmen­t of my village to make it a model village. My managerial skill will certainly help me out in better planning of developmen­t and implementa­tion of various developmen­tal schemes in his village. I will try to add all basic facilities to my village,” said Mishra. With the support of locals, he will also work on water crisis in the area.

Model loses panchayat poll in Jaunpur

Model turned actress Diksha Singh lost the election for district panchayat member from ward No 26 in Buxa area of Jaunpur.

She ended third with 2000 votes behind Sanju Yadav who got 5000 votes and the eventual winner Nagina Singh who got 7000 votes.

After filing the nomination, Diksha, a native of Chitaudi village in Buxa area of Jaunpur, had said that she wanted to bring changes at grassroots level by adding basic facilities. Diksha, a model and a writer, is the daughter of Goa-based industrial­ist Jeetendra Singh.

“I don’t think that I am not acquainted with my village and the area. I lived in Jaunpur and studied in a Montessori school here. Thereafter along with parents I left for Goa and completed my education there. I did my graduation in English literature from a college in Goa,” she said.

She said that she visits her village several times every year.
