AMID COVID, VILLAGERS ENJOY DANCE SANS MASKS, SOCIAL DISTANCING

PRAYAGRAJ : Despite the efforts of district administra­tion and police to strictly enforce ‘corona curfew’ to control Covid spread, people in Prayagraj district continue to violate government guidelines.

In the latest incident, an orchestra dance programme was allegedly organised at a village in Manda area on Sunday night where a large crowd gathered to watch the dance performed by orchestra women.

A video of the event held during a marriage has gone viral purportedl­y showing violations of Covid protocol. Superinten­dent of police (trans-Yamuna) Saurabh Dixit said the video footage was being scanned and action will be taken against those involved in violation of the guidelines. Police were in the process of registerin­g a case in this connection when reports last came in.

As per reports, the wedding of one Nebulal Maurya’s daughter took place at his residence at Kosda Kala village under Manda police station of transYamun­a on Sunday night. It is reported that an orchestra party was organised to entertain ‘baratis’ in which some women were also called for dancing. In the video, villagers were seen enjoying the party without masks and social distancing.

On Sunday, Atarsuiya police had arrested a nominated corporator Anoop Mishra and his two supporters after a video surfaced in which they were seen celebratin­g birthday on the road. Earlier, 16 people were arrested by Atarsuiya police for taking out a victory procession of newly elected corporator from Dariabad Fasahat Hussain.

A day earlier, Meja police arrested newly elected village head Sonu Gautam who was seen firing with an illegal firearm and dancing with his supporters while violating Covid protocols in a video that went viral.
