Sanjay Srinet takes charge as new UPPSC chairman
PRAYAGRAJ: Former Indian Revenue Service officer Sanjay Srinet took charge as the new chairman of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) here on Tuesday. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had recently recommended his name for the post which was then approved by UP governor Anandiben Patel.
Soon after taking charge, in his address to UPPSC staff and officers, Srinet said that to ensure capable, inclusive and sensitive administration in the state, it was the constitutional responsibility of UPPSC to undertake time-bound and fair selections of able and honest candidates through an impartial and transparent selection process.
He highlighted that the commission was a constitutional body and it was the responsibility of each and every member, employee and official to protect its impartiality and trust. Honesty towards performing constitutional duties is expected from all of us, he added. Srinet also said that the selection process of UPPSC needs to be above any suspicion as many talented aspirants had their hopes and dreams pinned on the recruitment exams conducted by it.
He also called upon all UPPSC employees and officials to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19 and work to help the needy in society as a true public servant.
Prior to his appointment in UPPSC, Sanjay Srinet was special director, northern region enforcement directorate. During his tenure he led the operation for the seizure of assets worth many crores and detected cases of tax evasion and smuggling worth crores as well. Srinet, a native of Lucknow, was a student of Colvin Taluqdars’ College. Later, he went to Allahabad University and also JNU before being selected in IRS. From 2005-2009, he was first secretary in Indian High Commission at London. He was in charge of the directorate of revenue intelligence of Rajasthan also and later served as special director of northern region enforcement directorate till 2020.
