PRAYAGRAJ: At a time when the Covid-19 pandemic has snatched away earning members of several families, various schools and colleges of the district have come forward to help the children of such families to continue their studies.

One such noble step has been taken by the Maharishi Patanjali Vidya Mandir (MPVM) Group of Institutions of Sangam city. The MPVM, which runs four eminent schools of the city, including MPVM, Patanjali Rishikul and Patanjali Nursery School in Teliyarganj besides Ganga Gurukulam in Phaphamau, having an overall student strength of over 7000 students, has decided to wave off fees of such students for the entire tenure of their studies in the respective schools of the group. “What has happened with a student is already unfortunate and how can we be so insensitive at a time when the family has lost its earning member.

We have decided that the fee of any student, who is enrolled in any of the four schools of the group and has lost the only earning member of the family will have his/her fee waived off for the entire duration of his or her studies in our schools,” said secretary of MPVM group, Krishna Mishra.

Likewise, another noted English-medium school of the city, St Joseph’s College has also decided to waive off the fee of such students.

The school principal Rev Fr Thomas Kumar said, “In order to lessen the damage done to the families of our students due to Covid deaths, the college has decided to waive off for one year the entire fees of the students, who have lost either their mother or father this year. And if any of the students, has lost both parents this year, the College will waive off his entire tuition fees for the next three academic years in our college and thereafter, the situation will be reviewed for continuing the assistance.”

The Jaiswal Group of Educational Institutions, having schools and colleges in rural areas, has decided that the entire education of such children, right from Kinder Garden (KG) level to Post Graduation (PG) level, would be free. The group has two colleges affiliated to Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University of Prayagraj.

Manager Laxmi Narayan Jaiswal and founder Rakesh Jaiswal said, “Many people have died in the Corona pandemic and our hearts goes out for such families. We cannot bring back those who have left their families but at least our meager help will ensure that studies of children of the effected families are not hindered because of financial issues.”
