COPS RESCUE DOCTOR FROM KIDNAPPERS IN CHANDAULI VILLAGE

VARANASI : The police rescued a doctor after an encounter with his kidnappers near Bilaridih village in Chandauli on Wednesday morning. Four kidnappers, including one injured in the incident, were arrested. A cop was also injured, said police.

Dr Amareshwar Kushwaha, a homeopath of Raia village was kidnapped by four criminals from near Phoolpur village around 9pm on May 31 when he was on his way home from his clinic. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 70 lakh from his kin, said a police officer.

After the doctor’s kin informed the police, IG (Varanasi range) SK Bhagat inspected the spot and assured them that the police will make all efforts to rescue the victim.

Police teams were deployed and massive vehicle checking drive was carried out. In the meantime, police got informatio­n that the criminals were fleeing Chandauli in a car, after which cops intensifie­d patrolling on the national highway near Bilaridih village.

The police signalled a car to stop for checking. As cops reached near the car, the occupants opened fire at them and the cops retaliated.

SP (Chandauli) Amit Kumar said a kidnapper, Rajeev Singh, suffered a bullet injury in his leg. He and his three accomplice­s, including one Suresh Yadav, were arrested and an amount of Rs 40.50 lakh, which was given to them by the kin of the doctor, was recovered from them. The police then reached a house near Tengara mod and rescued the doctor.
