North Central Railways registers 43% growth in freight revenue
CUMULATIVE EARNINGS THIS YEAR STOOD AT RS 286.44 CRORE AS AGAINST RS 200.75 CRORE IN APRILMAY 2020
PRAYAGRAJ : The North Central Railways (NCR) has recorded 56% growth in freight loading, while in terms of revenue earned it showed an increase of 43% during April-May 2021, in comparison to the corresponding period last year (2020), said NCR officials.
Chief commercial manager (freight marketing), NCR Anu Mani Tripathi, said cumulative earnings this year stood at Rs 286.44 crore as against Rs 200.75 crore in April-May 2020.
Among the commodities registering an upward growth were petroleum loading from Rasulpur (near Kanpur, Jhansi Division), besides cement loading from Chunar and Parichha and De-oiled cake or DOC loading from Rayru and Morena (Jhansi Division). The main trigger in the growth is attributed to container loading from various, she said.
Chief freight traffic manager(CFTM), NCR and head of business development unit (BDU), NCR, PK Ojha said that while food grain loading stood at 67 (number of rakes) in April-May 2020 while a total 94 rakes of food grains have been loaded during the same period this year.
Restoration of train services
NCR general manager VK Tripathi has directed the business development unit (BDU) to be in regular touch with local industrial units, exporters, chambers of commerce, associations and other federations in NCR, to quickly assess and plan restoration of train services to facilitate such movement, in consultation with the coaching directorate of Railway Board, said NCR CPRO, Shivam Sharma. The GM has also instructed DRMs of Agra, Prayagraj, and Jhansi divisions of NCR to instruct divisional BDUs to coordinate with all stake holders in their areas.
