Youth held on marriage eve after actress alleges sexual exploitation

PRAYAGRAJ: Ghoorpur police arrested a 23-year-old youth a day before his marriage after a Bhojpuri movie actress got an FIR registered, accusing the youth of sexually exploiting her.

Station house officer (SHO), Ghoorpur police station, Rajesh Upadhyay said that on the complaint of the woman, an FIR was registered against the youth who was arrested on late Wednesday night.

The 35-year-old actress claimed that the youth reneged on his promise of marrying her.

The actress lodged the FIR against the youth whose marriage was to take place on Thursday, police said.

The actress told us that she came in contact with the youth during a film shooting in the youth’s village, police said.

The Bhojpuri film actress, a resident of Mumbai, had come to Ghoghapur village with her team for shooting of a movie in August 2017. Here she came in touch with a local youth Rohit Yadav and the two developed an affair.

The actress, who is already married and has a 15-year-old daughter, claimed that Rohit sexually exploited her for four years during which he took her to various places and even to his home in Ghoorpur. The youth’s family members were aware of their relation, she alleged in her complaint.

She claimed that Rohit returned to his village around 15 days back and started avoiding her. The actress also reached Ghoghapur where she learnt that Rohit was to get married on Thursday. She approached Ghoorpur police and registered a complaint against him.
