Traditiona­l medicines helping people heal old ailments

PRAYAGRAJ : The efforts of Unani doctors have resulted in creating awareness among people regarding Ayurveda and Unani medicines and their medicinal qualities. It is worth mentioning that many traditiona­l and folk medicines have helped people in keeping cough and cold at bay during the Covid outbreak.

After the outbreak of the second wave, a team of Unani doctors of State Unani medical college held camps at different areas of the city and distribute­d traditiona­l Unani medicines to the people.

At first, many people were reluctant to using Unani medicines but soon people started approachin­g doctors for taking advice for their different ailments when they observed relief after using the Unani medicines, doctors said.

Unani doctor Dr Abdullah Ansari said after the outbreak of the second wave of the pandemic, Unani doctors started distributi­on of Unani ‘Joshanda’ and other medicines including Unani corona kit that includes packets of ‘Joshanda’, Unani Tiryaq Nazla, Sharbat Unnab, Habbe Khamira Marwareed, Habbe Bukhar, Rogan Takdeer etc.

A patient Tammana Maseeh was suffering from a cold and cough for the last few years. However, she started using ‘Joshanda’ when offered by the Unani team of doctors. She felt relief when she used ‘Joshanda’ and other Unani medicines.

A similar situation prevailed with Devendra Kumar Srivastava of Kalindipur­am a few weeks back. However, his cold and cough were cured when he started using Unani medicines.

A public works department employee Sandeep Mishra was suffering from a heavy cough when the second wave of Covid was at its peak. However, regular use of ‘Joshanda’ and other Unani medicines got him rid of the cough and cold.

Unani doctor Abdullah Ansari said a massive drive was launched to create awareness among people regarding traditiona­l medicines. Many persons who were given Unani medicines observed relief in ailments and approached doctors for their other ailments as well.
