BJP govt has ruined small industries, economy: UPCC chief
VARANASI: Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Kumar Lallu blamed policies of the BJP governments – both in the Centre as well as the state – for ruining small industries and the economy, on Thursday. They also failed to control diesel, petrol price rise and that of mustard oil, he said.
Interacting with the traders and people associated with small industries in Varanasi, Lallu said, “Small industries have been destroyed and as a result, traders suffered and the economy is in ruins. At present, the inflation is at the highest level of 12.94% and the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel made food items, transportation expensive. Mustard oil price has increased manifold, upsetting the common man. People have understood the BJP and will give a reply to the BJP in 2022.”
After holding a meeting with the traders, Lallu reached Piplani Katra area in the city to inspect a water-logged road. While walking on the waterlogged road, Lallu took a jibe at the government again.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised Kyoto-like development in Kashi. But this promise remained just a promise. People of the city feel cheated. I tried to find Kyotolike development in Varanasi but I couldn’t. What I found was waterlogged roads,” Lallu said.
He said that water-logging on city roads exposed that even the sewer line in the city could not be renewed in the last six years.
Former minister and Congress leader Ajay Rai said that the policies of the government ruined the economy and every section of society is paying the price. Unemployment is growing even as the government failed to check inflation and provide jobs to youth.
Former MP Dr Rajesh Mishra, UPCC vice-president Vishwavijay Singh, district president Rajeshwar Patel, city unit president Raghavendra Choubey, Durga Prasad Gupta, Sitaram Keshari, Imran Khan, Maqsood Khan, Fasahat Hussain Babu and several traders were present at the meeting.
