12,285 Covid-19 kits to be given to kids in Varanasi district
VARANASI: Additional chief medical officer, Varanasi, Sanjay Rai said that 12,285 Covid-19 medicine kits will be distributed among Covid-19 symptomatic children in the district.
The medicine kits are being distributed as part of the government’s effort to deal with a possible third wave of infections.
Dr Rai said that 12,285 kits, which were sent by the state government, have been received in the district. These medicine kits will be given to symptomatic children below the age of 12 years.
He said that the distribution of these medicine kits will be done through 125 monitoring committees in the city areas, while 694 monitoring committees will distribute the medicine kits among the symptomatic children in the rural areas of the district.

Singh said that the Covid-19 medicine kits for children have been divided age-wise into three categories: up to 12 months, 1 to 5 years and 6 to 12 years.
The CMO said that for babies from birth to 12 months, each medicine kit includes paracetamol drops (100mg/ml), multivitamin drops and ORS packets.
Likewise, for children from 1 to 5 years of age, each medicine kit includes paracetamol syrup (50mg/ml), multivitamin syrup and ORS packets.
Children from 6 to 12 years of age will be given a medicine kit with a paracetamol tablet (half tablet of 500 mg), multivitamin tablet, Ivermectin (6 mg) along with ORS packets.
“Please do not give the above medicines to children without consulting a doctor/expert,” he advised, adding that soon the distribution of medicine kits in rural and urban areas will begin by the monitoring committees designated to each area - whether urban or rural.
