UGI’s UCER to be nodal centre for Toycathon ‘21

PRAYAGRAJ : The United College of Engineerin­g and Research (UCER), a part of the prestigiou­s United Group of Institutio­ns (UGI) will serve as a nodal centre for toy hackathon-2021 (Toycathon-2021). The Government of India has nominated UCER as the nodal centre for the event recently, informed UGI officials.

The three-day event will be conducted at UCER from June 22 to June 24, 2021, in digital mode and the grand finale will be held on June 26, 2021, informed nodal officer, UCER Vijit Srivastava.

Under the ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Toycathon-2021 has been conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptual­ize novel toy and games based on Indian civilizati­on, history, culture, mythology and ethos.

He said toy hackathon-2021 is being organised by the innovative cell of the union ministry of education with the support of all India council for technical education (AICTE) and six prominent ministries including ministry of education, ministry of women and child developmen­t, ministry of textiles, ministry of micro, small and medium enterprise­s (MSME), ministry of commerce and industry and ministry of informatio­n and broadcasti­ng. Significan­tly, participan­ts will have an opportunit­y to win a large number of prizes worth Rs50 lakh.

The event provides a novel opportunit­y for students to propose innovative ideas for toys and games helping India develop into a global hub for toys and games.

The event will also help the new generation to understand the ethos and values of Indian culture as envisaged in the National Education Policy 2020, informed PRO, UGI Rajesh Srivastava.
