Women uplift top priority, says national VP of BJP mahila morcha

VARANASI : A day after being appointed national vice president of BJP mahila morcha, Varanasi-based Darshana Singh on Wednesday said women upliftment was her top priority and she would work to strengthen women empowerment drive.
“I will fulfill my goal of accelerating the pace of taking the schemes of the government to the people,” said Singh, who was previously serving as the UP BJP women wing president.
She along with Chauri Chaura (Gorakhpur) MLA Sangeeta Yadav from UP has been given national roles by the party on Tuesday.
Yadav has been appointed national secretary of BJP mahila morcha.
BJP Kashi region spokesperson Navratan Rathi said, Singh is a native of Chandauli district but lives in Varanasi. She is MA in History with gold medal from
Purvanchal University in 1996. Singh had worked as a casual announcer in All India Radio and Doordarshan Allahabad for two years before joining politics.
Singh started her political career in 2008 by joining BJP. She was appointed president of mahila morcha of Chandauli in 2011. Later, she became a member of UP BJP working committee in 2013. She was appointed secretary of BJP Kashi region in 2015 and UP BJP women wing president in 2018.
“Singh is faithfully engaged in organisational work while holding various positions,” Rathi said.
BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh, Union minister Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, Kashi region president Mahesh Chand Srivastava, state vice president Laxman Acharya, Pankaj Singh, ministers Anil Rajbhar, Neelkanth Tiwari and Ravindra Jaiswal, MLA Saurabh Srivastava, regional media in-charge Navratan Rathi, Santosh Solapurkar have congratulated Singh.
