Four trucks seized for overloading

PRAYAGRAJ: In the ongoing drive against illegal mining and overloading in heavy vehicles, Shankargarh police seized four trucks under motor vehicle act.
Sub Inspector Manish Tripathi said during routine checking drive at Naribari police outpost, four trucks were intercepted that were overloaded. The truck drivers also failed to produce any relevant documents following which the trucks were seized. The police teams on the highway are continuously on patrol and are taking action against vehicles carrying illegally mined material and overloading, SI added.
Youth shot at in Pratapgarh
A youth was shot at outside his farmhouse at Katra Awanpur under Pratapgarh Kotwali police station late Tuesday night. He was taken to hospital where doctors referred him to SRN hospital in Prayagraj. Police is now trying to identify the culprits involved in the incident.
According to reports, one Rahul Singh, 32, of Kotwali area received a call from watchman of his farmhouse that some miscreants were pelting stones on the main gate. Rahul and his brother Ajeet reached the spot, but the miscreants opened fire. Rahul received bullet injuries in his stomach while the miscreants fled the scene.
SHO Ravindra Singh said an FIR has been lodged against unidentified miscreants and efforts were on to identify and trace them, he added.
