PRAYAGRAJ: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually interacted with participants of Toycathon-2021 and enquired about their innovative ideas on the last day of the evaluation round of the three-day contest on Thursday.
He also sought to know the ways that could help the country to become the biggest market of toys and games globally.
An inter-ministerial initiative, Toycathon-2021 was launched earlier this year collectively by the ministry of education, ministry of women and child development, ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises along with textile, information and broadcasting ministries, department for promotion of industry and internal trade and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The final round was inaugurated on June 23 by Union women and child development minister Smriti Irani and Union minister of state for education Sanjay Dhotre.
A total of 17 groups allotted to United College of Engineering and Research (UCER) of United
Group of Institutions (UGI) also participated in the three-day event. They shared their ideas to help India become a hub of toys and games, said Vijit Srivastava, nodal officer, UCER.
Srivastava said that the 17 groups allotted to UCER — the nodal centre of Prayagraj for Toycathon-2021 nominated by the Central government — included five groups from Kerala, nine from Uttar Pradesh, two from Tamil Nadu and one group from Andhra Pradesh.
He said the event was organised in three categories: Under-15, undergraduate and
research scholars.
The winners of Toycathon2021 will be declared on the grand finale to be held on June 26, he added.
UCER principal Prof HP Shukla welcomed all participants.
