Admissions to professional AU courses: Preparations begin
The move to hold the entrance tests of professional courses comes after the approval of V-C Sangita Srivastava
THESE ENTRANCE TESTS WOULD BE HELD PROBABLY SOMETIME IN AUGUST OR EARLY SEPTEMBER
PRAYAGRAJ: After a delay in admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses, authorities at the Allahabad University (AU) have decided to start preparations for admissions to professional courses, including the five-year BA-LLB course.
The Union ministry of education had asked the university authorities to send details of all courses taught by AU so that a common entrance test could be conducted for admission to all central universities of the country. This is proposed to be held by the National Testing Agency (NTA) which would pave the way for admission in all central universities of the country, including AU.
However, after AU provided the details sought by the ministry, the university authorities have not received any instructions when this common entrance test would be conducted.
Meanwhile, the AU administration has decided to go ahead with conducting the admissions for the professional courses on its own. The idea is to make preparations and if the ministry says that it would hold a test for professional courses too, the process would be put on hold, university officials said.
It is also learnt that the core admissions committee has decided to move ahead with the process of holding the entrance test of professional courses after the approval of vice-chancellor Sangita Srivastava.
“Since the entire process for conducting any entrance test requires preparation of at least two months, we decided to prepare for them and conducting the entrance test for select professional courses run on the campus, including all the courses run under the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS),” IR Siddiqui, director, admissions, AU, said.
He said that the courses for which AU intends to conduct the entrance test and the follow-up admissions include law five-year integrated course and LLB along with MBA, MFA (masters in fine arts), MEd, etc.
AU has not yet decided whether these entrance tests would be conducted in the offline or online mode but probably this would be held sometime in August or early September, officials said.
