Third accused held for throwing girl off second floor in Mathura

AGRA: The police on Friday arrested the third accused in the case in which a 17-year-old girl was thrown off the secondfloo­r balcony of a house by alleged molesters in the Chaatha area of Mathura district on Monday night (June 21 night).

The two other accused were arrested earlier.

“Case no. 214/21 was registered at Chaatha police station on Tuesday under Sections 307/354/452/323/504/506 of the Indian Penal Code, besides Section 7/8 of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act against the three accused who are in their early twenties,” Mathura’s superinten­dent of police (Rural) Shrish Chandra said.

“Two accused were arrested on Wednesday. The third was arrested on Friday from a location near a hotel in Chaatha town of Mathura district,” the SP (Rural) said.

Chandra said the injured girl was taken to Jaipur for treatment.

The 17-year-old girl was thrown off the second floor allegedly by the three men. A CCTV camera had reportedly recorded the incident.

After the alleged incident, a case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including that for molestatio­n and attempt to murder.

The age of the girl was not revealed at the time of the complaint but as she turned out to be a minor, relevant provisions of the Pocso Act were added later in the case.

According to complaint filed at the Chaatha police station, the three accused turned up at the home of the girl on Monday night and allegedly threw her off the second-floor balcony of the house.
