DAY AFTER ARREST, LET COMMANDER NADEEM ABRAR BHAT KILLED IN ENCOUNTER: COPS
SRINAGAR: A day after his arrest, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Nadeem Abrar Bhat was killed along with an unidentified terrorist in an encounter at Maloora in the outskirts of Srinagar, police said on Tuesday.
The LeT commander, police said, was arrested on Monday from a checkpost in Parimpora in connection with the attack on a CRPF patrol party at Lawaypora in March this year, in which three jawans were killed. Police said Bhat was killed when he was taken to a house in Maloora by security forces to recover an AK-47 rifle. “He was taken to that house to recover the weapon. When the party was entering the house to recover the alleged weapon, one of his associates, a Pakistani terrorist hiding inside the house, fired at the party,” a Jammu and Kashmir Police spokesperson said on condition of anonymity.
The spokesperson added that while three CRPF personnel were injured, Abrar and the unidentified terrorist were killed in the firing.
“The injured personnel were evacuated and the rest of the party called for reinforcements. The Pakistani terrorist and Abrar were killed in the crossfire. Two AK-47 rifles along with ammunitions were recovered from the site,” the spokesperson said. Abrar was arrested after Jammu and Kashmir Police received inputs about a possible terrorist attack on highways.
