PRAYAGRAJ : With three months of the new academic session already past and the schools yet to open for students, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP), popularly known as UP Board, has begun preparations for conducting its intermediate and high school exams-2022 for just 70% of the prescribed annual syllabus.

“A proposal is being prepared with the help of UP Board’s subject experts spelling out the 30% course to be curtailed for this year. It will be then sent to the state government for approval,” said a senior UP Board official in the know about the development.

“The step comes in backdrop of the pandemic already impacting three months of the new academic session even as uncertainty still prevails over restarting of offline classes for students,” he added.

To finalise the curtailed syllabus of each subject of the two classes, the UP Board had invited various subject experts on its panel and preparing the 70% course from the annual syllabus of each subject and then getting the proposal made based on their recommendations, officials said. The development is significant as the board has introduced NCERT syllabus for English in class 10 and class 12 as well as commerce for class 12 from this very session. Officials say that 70% syllabus has also been prepared for these three subjects based on the recommendations of the subject experts by UP Board.

In 2020 also, the UP Board had issued the curtailed 70% syllabus for the class 10 and class 12 on July 20. The board was supposed to conduct the high school and intermediate exams based on this curtailed syllabus. But despite all preparations, the exams had to be cancelled in line with the central and state governments’ decisions in this regard owing to the prevailing pandemic.

Nearly 26 lakh (2.6 million) candidates had registered for the class 12 examinations and nearly 30 lakh (three million) candidates had registered for the class 10 exam last time. Officials said UP Board will soon be opening its official website— https:// upmsp.edu.in/ for filling the class 10 and class 12 examination-2022 forms by the students. Simultaneously, the board would also be starting advance registration of class 9 and class 11 students as per its set norms.
