PRAYAGRAJ : Some 66 colleges affiliated to Prayagraj-based Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University (PRSU) from Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh and Fatehpur districts have applied to the varsity for permission to start new courses on their respective campuses, say varsity officials. They have sought permission to start these courses from the 2021-22 academic session, they add.

The officials further said the last date for existing colleges to apply for getting a no objection certificate (NOC) for starting new courses as well as new colleges wishing to get temporarily and permanently affiliated with the varsity from the next academic session was July 31.

“We would then be convening the meeting of our affiliation granting committee to take up each application and take a call on a case-to-case basis,” said vice chancellor of PRSU prof Akhilesh Kumar Singh.

The VC said so far 75 colleges, including those wanting permission to start new courses, had applied to the university along with those seeking permanent or temporary affiliation with PRSU.

PRSU is among the newest state universities of Uttar Pradesh set up in 2016. The university has 321 affiliated colleges in Prayagraj, 71 in Kaushambi, 72 in Fatehpur and 146 in Pratapgarh districts.

The university had granted permission to 34 of its affiliated colleges to start new courses from 2020-21 academic session. At least 27 colleges had sought permission to run new courses permanently but they were not granted permission. However, 151 colleges were granted course affiliation extensions.

The VC said for 2020-21 session also, 66 colleges had applied. They included 19 new colleges seeking affiliation, and 47 colleges already running new courses and wanted recognition of these courses.
