NCR RPF rescues 164 kids in Q1 of 2021-22

PRAYAGRAJ : Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of North Central Railway (NCR) — having the primary duty of protecting railway property along with the passengers — during the first quarter of the current financial year 2021-22 has rescued 104 boys and 60 girls who were lost/ wandered at the stations and helped them reunite with their families or handed over them to NGOs safely, inform NCR officials.

During the same period, 45 mobile phones, three laptops and cash worth Rs 56,465 of passengers were also returned to the persons concerned, they added.

During the financial year 2021-22, 15 persons were arrested and prohibited material worth Rs8,18,000 were recovered by the RPF, while taking action against the suppliers of narcotics and banned substances, informed NCR chief public relations officer (CPRO) Shivam Sharma.

Apart from this, 58 criminals involved in crimes related to passengers were also arrested and handed over to the GRP, he added. In the cases of theft of railway property, 47 people have been arrested and railway property worth Rs1,67,466 has been recovered from their possession. Under various sections of the Railway Act, 2,213 persons have been arrested and fines worth Rs8,17,110 were imposed on them by the court.

In order to ensure proper availabili­ty of tickets to railway passengers, legal action has been taken by arresting 18 persons involved in the black marketing of railway tickets. While taking action to prevent delays in trains, 574 persons have been arrested for alarm chain pulling sans valid cause.

A total of Rs1,64,180 was realized as fines by the court from these people.

Contributi­ng to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a fine of Rs24,050 was imposed through the court on 122 persons nabbed for littering/nuisance in trains/ rail premises. In this sequence, 816 persons for illegal vending were arrested, on whom a fine of Rs4,08,910 was imposed by the court, said CPRO.

Apart from this, RPF personnel also made a significan­t contributi­on in getting the protocols related to Covid-19 to be followed in stations and trains.
