Objectiona­ble poster goes viral; police begin probe

CYBER CELL OF PRAYAGRAJ POLICE LAUNCHED A PROBE INTO THE MATTER ON SATURDAY

PRAYAGRAJ : Soon after coming to know that an objectiona­ble poster allegedly carrying crossmarke­d photograph­s of prime minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath among others had gone viral, the cyber cell of Prayagraj police launched a probe into the matter on Saturday evening.

The poster also carries the photograph­s of Nathuram Godse, Adolf Hitler besides Gopal Sharma, the youth accused of firing on anti-CAA protestors at Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi last year.

On the issue, director general (prisons), UP, Anand Kumar on Sunday evening tweeted: “This prisoner Hassan Ali @ Hassan S/o Jakir Husain is admitted in this (Naini) jail on 08 07 2021. On enquiry prisoner himself revealed that this poster he carried in NRC CAA protest last year. This photo has not been circulated from the jail.”

As per the police, the objectiona­ble poster went viral on Friday (July 16) showing the poster held by accused 24-year-old Hassan Ali aka Hassan Chakia, who is lodged in Naini Central Jail for allegedly opening fire on some persons a few weeks ago. Hassan Ali, a local resident with criminal antecedent­s, was arrested by Dhumanganj police in connection with the firing incident two weeks ago.

“The person accused of posting objectiona­ble content on social media is already lodged in jail after an FIR of assault and firing was lodged against him,” said SP (city) Dinesh K Singh.

“It is also being investigat­ed if the same person was involved in posting the poster or someone else has done it. The cyber cell has been asked to probe the incident from all angles following which further action will be taken,” he added.
