LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said no district of Uttar Pradesh reported fresh cases in double digits in the past 24 hours.

A total of 47 districts did not report even a single fresh Covid case while 28 districts reported cases in single digits, he said at a Covid review meeting here.

Now seven districts — Aligarh, Chitrakoot, Hathras, Kasganj, Mahoba, Shamli and Shravasti — did not have any active Covid-19 case, he said..

“All this indicates the Covid situation is getting better ,” he said. The chief minister also said that in the last 24 hours, a total of 2.54 lakh Covid tests were done and 56 people tested positive. While a total of 69 patients recovered, the positivity rate came down to 0.02% and the recovery rate 98.6%.

He said that the Covid vaccination was going on well, but needed speeding up. So far, 4.3 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the state.

Negative RT-PCR report must for in-coming travellers from high positivity states

The chief minister asked officials to make negative RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) report mandatory for all those entering Uttar Pradesh from such states that have a Covid positivity rate of more than 3%.

The rule must apply not only to those who travel by train, bus, or air, but also to those entering the state in private vehicles, the chief minister said at the Covid-19 review meeting.

Those who have received both doses of the vaccine could be exempted from this, he said. He also announced that the positivity rate in UP was now 0.02%.

“The state should make negative RT-PCR report mandatory for the travellers coming in from the states that have Covid positivity rate more than 3% and the report should not be older than four days. Those who have received a double dose of the vaccine could be exempted from this. So, people from such states with a positivity rate of more than 3% should start their journey (to UP) only after getting the test report. UP needs to exercise extra caution considering that the Covid pandemic is within control in the state,” he said.
